How to Get Certified for HIV/HCV/Syphilis Test Counseling

1. Sign up for a SACT-P (In-Person) course*

*Skip this step if you are only taking the online courses, and do not wish to receive an HIV test counseling certification

  • Login to the Dashboard using your username and password
  • Go to “Course Catalog” on the left sidebar and select a course that is available. Please do not sign up for courses on behalf of anyone else.
  • If no appropriate courses exist in your preferred location, please visit SACT-O/P Interest

2. To access the SACT-O training courses, you will need to create a Bruin Online (BOL) account.

  • Go to the UCLA Identity & Accounts Management and agree to the terms
  • Unless you have a 9-digit UCLA ID (if you are former/current UCLA staff or faculty), you should select “I AM A GUEST OF UCLA”
  • Follow the instructions to create the account and activate the Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

3. Activate BruinLearn

  • Go to BruinLearn or click on the “BruinLearn” link on the left hand side of your Dashboard
  • Sign in using the BruinOnline ID that you created. Hint: the BOL is the portion of the ID before @ucla.edu. So if your BOL email is JohnSmith@ucla.edu, then your BOL ID is JohnSmith.

4. Associate SACT with your BOL email

  • Go to your SACT Dashboard
  • Click on “My Account” on the left hand sidebar
  • Go to “UCLA BruinLearn Settings” and enter your BOL email and click “Update email address”

5. In approximately 1-5 business days, you will be assigned your SACT-O training courses.

  • If you are within 60 days of your SACT-P* training deadline, you will be able to access your SACT-O courses immediately.
  • If you are more than 60 days of your SACT-P* training deadline, you will not receive access to your SACT-O courses until the 60 day window opens. You will receive an email notification when that happens

6. Complete your assigned SACT-O training courses by the deadline with a 100% passing grade on each*

7. Attend the SACT-P training and pass the proficiency tests.*

8. In approximately 1-3 business days after the SACT-P training, your HIV test counseling certificate will be available to download.*

  • Go to your SACT Dashboard and go to the “Documents” section to find your HIV test counseling certificate

*This step only applies to people who wish to receive an HIV test counseling certification and are signed up for the SACT-P (in-person) course.
